"iconic images"

Southern California lifeguard towers are iconic images. These towers are located in Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach, Torrance Beach and Palos Verdes. The photographs combine newer and classic images. The brightly colored towers were painted as part of the ‘Summer of Color’ exhibition, which was the largest public works exhibit in the United States. Towers from Malibu to San Pedro were painted as part of a project by Portraits of Hope to involve young people in public works projects.
