Carmakers charge ahead with electrics

BMW's Mini E electric car makes its world premiere Wednesday at the L.A. Auto Show at the L.A. Convention Center. The German automaker plans to lease 500 of the cars for one year to drivers in Los Angeles and New York. Nissan-Renault announces plans to start selling a competitively priced electric car in 2010. Other makers plan to show off what's developing.
