Half Moon Bay man struck by lightning
One person was struck by lightning in Half Moon Bay on Thursday evening, one of more than a dozen emergency calls triggered by the storm, fire officials said.
Firefighters were called to the 600 block of Terrace Avenue just before 9 p.m. on a report that a person had been struck by lightning. The person was taken to a nearby hospital in stable condition for further evaluation, said fire Capt. Jonathan Cox, of the Coastside Fire Protection District.
Coastside firefighters have responded to 13 storm-related emergency calls during the past 24 hours, including a structure fire, multiple fire alarms, motor vehicle accidents and flooding, Cox said.
Cox reminded residents that they should go indoors when thunder and lightning storms occur, and stay away from doors and windows when indoors.
