THEY'RE A HOT ITEM BUT THEY'RE NOT NEW
Electric/gasoline hybrids are a hot item today, but are not new. This 1916 Woods Dual Power was an early attempt to combine the advantages of both forms of power. Owned by the Henry Ford Museum, the Woods Dual Power had a 14-hp four-cylinder gasoline engine and an electric motor. It was only produced two years, although the Woods Electric had been in production since 1903. More interesting facts can be found at the Detroit Evening News joyrides (http://info.detnews.com/joyrides/index.cfm), (Photo by Richard A. Wright).
