“Those comic books are awesome"

On the heels of news that True Jackson, VP, star Keke Palmer was offered a role in Marvel’s Runaways comes word that YouTube sensation Lucas Cruikshank auditioned for a part in the adaptation.

The 17-year-old comedic actor, whose high-pitched Fred Figglehorn character appeared in a series of online videos and the made-for-TV Fred: The Movie, told MovieWeb that he auditioned for a role in Runaways, but didn’t reveal which role.

“Oh, my gosh! I want to be in that! Yeah,” Cruikshank said. “Those comic books are awesome. So that would be sweet. I auditioned for that a couple months ago, but I don’t know. It was a really fun audition. So I will just wait and see what happens.”

The most likely part of Cruikshank is, of course, Chase Stein, the reckless, and occasionally obnoxious, son of mad scientists and pilot of the team’s transport ship The Leapfrog.

Created in 2003 by Brian K. Vaughan and Adrian Alphona, Runaways centers on six kids who discover their parents are super-villains known as the Pride. Fleeing from their homes, the kids band together to learn about their inherited powers, defeat the Pride and make up for the evil committed by their parents
