Letter to the Los Angeles Times:
I loved your story about "my" island Santa Catalina ("The Secret Island," Feb. 22). I am a native, and one of the times I miss most in my life away from the island is the winter. It's best when there's a good storm. I know it has become customary, but the island is Santa Catalina, named after St. Catherine of Alexandria. I wish we islanders had developed a horror of hearing just "Catalina," as San Franciscans react to someone saying "Frisco!" Otherwise, you did good.
