Il Divo were assembled by high-trousered impresario Simon Cowell, who sought to take advantage of an under-tapped public market for operatic-pop.

Cowell gathered together a multi-national selection of attractive young male singers -- Urs Bühler, Sébastien Izambard, David Miller and Carlos Marín -- and by 2005 they had released their debut album Il Divo.

They've been a sensation ever since.
