The City of Toronto is the largest city in Canada and the provincial capital of Ontario, located on the northwestern shore of Lake Ontario. The city has a population of 2.48 million and its metro region, the Greater Toronto Area, has a population of 5.9 million; Toronto is at the heart of the Golden Horseshoe, a region in south-central Ontario with roughly 8 million people.
