Who would have guessed that it would come to this ??

Sept. 7, 1907: The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals installed "a handsome new drinking fountain" at Main and Spring streets just north of 9th Street. The Times hailed the $50 fountain as "the only one of its kind in the West."

"At one side of the horse trough is a stationary nickel cup from which water constantly bubbles. This is for the use of human beings, who quench their thirst by placing the mouth in the flowing water and quaffing…. "Just above the sidewalk level is a small trough for the use of dogs." (From Los Angeles Times: Times Past)
