From the Gateway Arch "you can see forever"
The Gateway Arch is the nation's tallest monument, glinting like a jetliner in the Midwestern sun. From 16 windows across the top, you can see 30 miles east or west. The elevator trip costs $8 and takes you 630 feet into the air. For a little perspective, that's 75 feet higher than the Washington Monument. Look down and you'll see the Mississippi River - the same one that hypnotized Mark Twain and T.S. Eliot, both from St. Louis - which has riverboat rides and floating poker games. (J.B. Forbes / St. Louis Post-Dispatch)
