WHAT DO YOU SEE HERE ??

MODERNISM: “Brooklyn Bridge” (1919-20) was painted by Joseph Stella, one of the American artists whose work was pulled into a collection that also included the most avant of Europe’s avant-garde.

    Arthur, on the subject of Brooklyn suspension bridges, here is a quote from a copyrighted article by the Metropolitan Transit Authority, 1996-2005, about the Verrazano-Narrows bridge, which connects Brooklyn to Staten Island:

    "Its monumental 693 foot high towers are 1 5/8 inches farther apart at their tops than at their bases because the 4,260 foot distance between them made it necessary to compensate for the earth's curvature."
