Like life, the Oscar race isn't always fair. It's a lesson that we learn by the end of every awards season yet somehow forget by the beginning of the next: Not all great movies are nominated for or win Oscars, and not all movies that are nominated for or win Oscars are great.
Case(s) in point: The annals of history have recorded that disposable junk such as Frank Coraci's "Click" (2006) and Brian Robbins' "Norbit" (2007) were worthy of Oscar nominations, but future classics such as Jason Reitman's "Thank You for Smoking" (2006) (pictured) and Sidney Lumet's "Before the Devil Knows You're Dead" (2007) -- to say nothing of certified classics such as Charlie Chaplin's "City Lights" (1931) and John Ford's "The Searchers" (1956) -- were not.
