Gateway to the West
The Gateway Arch, a landmark in St. Louis, Missouri by Eero Saarinen, completed in 1966. This arc is based on an inverted catenary. it is 192 meters high, and 192 meters wide at the base. Touring trains go through the inside taking sightseers to the top. The Gateway Arch has historical significance both in achitecture and the American society. (Photo by Charlie Brown 2002)
